Hallway Etiquette
This happens to us every now-and-then and we wanted to get the community's take. Eye contact is something that many people don't seem to discuss, but this has probably happened to all of us at some point. There really isn't a globally understood set of rules on the eye-contact situation in the halllway. Let's figure it out.
You're walking down a rather lengthy hallway at work. Someone turns the corner at the other end of the hallway and is approaching. You really don't know this person that well.
Do you:
A. Make eye contact the whole time and give a friendly nod as you pass?
B. Make no eye contact, staring at the floor or straight ahead as you pass?
C. Make eye contact right before you pass and give a friendly "Hello"?
You might be wondering if this matters or not. Well, we all interpret each of these options in a different way. Some may be wondering why you refuse to even look at them. Others wonder why you are staring at them. I'm sure we can all agree...sometimes this can simply be awkward.
What do you think?
